I firmly believe that people should not be condemned or judged upon the music they like.

The perception of music varies amongst people. One may say “this one is so bad, it is just  some kind of noise” while others talk about it like the “track of their life”.  What matters is the joy it gives to them, and in my honest opinion, this must be deeply respected.

For me the music journey started at a very young age, as a listener. By my relatives, I experienced many genres, and this open-mindedness stayed with me up until this very day. Besides, I have always paid attention to the different sounds around me, and through the years I have developed my listening skills. At my high-school years, I started to learn to play the guitar, which faded out, but I picked up this custom again around 2 years ago, and when my free-time allows it, I like to proceed with it in a relaxed manner.

When I had found out how much technology was involved in the modern music industry, I was amazed immediately. I think it was a natural progression, based on my technological background and on my passion, to enrol in an electronic music production course.

Not many people realize how much you have to study, and how hard it is to get to a level, where you can produce a decent song, especially for people like me, who does not have formal music background. Despite all these, I could not be happier that I have started this journey. As ‘U Good?’ I plan to challenge the boundaries of bass music. While it is a form of self-expression, my ultimate motive is to give people the same sensation I feel when I listen to music.

Either it is a competition beat, my capstone project, or just a track I had some fun with, you can follow my sonic explorations there.

Impro story

imPro - Budapest School of Music and Technology, the place where I took an intensive, 6 months long electronic music production course. Next to providing the technical skills, it focuses on the creative process and the self development as an artist. The program's modular structure can be seen on the left, while a short description of my assignment songs on the right.
Synthesis: Taught the basic and advanced techniques of sound synthesis, without using any pre-existing sound wave.
Sampling: Taught how to record any sound, and how to manipulate the existing sonic information.
Mixing and Mastering: Taught how to efficiently mix the building blocks of song.
Music Industry: Seminars and masterclasses about the working of music industry.
Final Project: A capstone assignment, culminating all what we learned. My song is available here.
The module assignments involved also exams, technical analysis essays, and presentations in front of the lecturer and class.

I was glad that I could keep up with the pace of lectures and class, and I feel proud of my progress, keeping in mind where I came from. imPro was a prefect place to start, but the real hard work comes now.
