Dual University studies

My professional career path started at the John von Neumann University, where I pursued a dual bachelor degree in vehicle engineering, in cooperation with Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary (Daimler). My university was a pioneer in establishing the first dual educational model in Hungary, based on Germany’s 50 years of experience. I have always believed that beside an excellent theoretical knowledge, hands-on experience is also needed to excel, especially in engineering disciplines. This is what dual higher education is supposed to provide, a head start for aspiring students. With an approximately 25 times application oversubscription, I was honoured to be one of the chosen applicants that comply with the corporate values of Daimler.

Dual experience

Stepping into the factory for the first time, realizing the complexity, I could not imagine that I was going to have the chance to take part in the daily life of so many domains of the automobile production.
  • Training Centre: In order to appreciate the value of manual work, we started with basic metal machining, electronic fabrication, and assembling of the car’s main systems, starting from powertrain through the main supply systems, ending with the undercarriage. We also attended trainings in Robot Programming, Pneumatics, Communication-, and Presentation skills.
  • Paint Shop: Participated in a production line optimization project
  • Quality Assurance: Supported the fluidity of the Assembly Hall with methodic checks and failure analysis (8D). I could shoot and edit a training video about the mandatory precautionary measures in the hall.
  • Material Testing Lab: Carried out my Bachelor Thesis. Created a new, interactive user interface for the evaluation sheets of destructive tests. Filmed and edited an introductory short movie.
  • Foreign Assignments: I had 2 assignments in plant of Rastatt, Germany. Assisted the reverse engineering and 3D modelling of an automated part transportation system.

Dual experience

I wrote my bachelor thesis from a screwing problem of an actual car part. Through my work, we investigated the circumstances of the mounting process, and we made various material tests, both destructive and non-destructive ones. I carried out injection molding and structural FEM simulations. I optimized the injection gates to reach better fibre orientation. After the analyses, I defined short- and long term measures to correct, then prevent the problem in the future.

Expo vibes

I represented my company and the dual university model 4 times at Educatio, the biggest expo for higher education in Hungary. It was a great chance to meet prospective students, and help them to choose which degree to pursue, or even inspire them.
