The more you mess around, the more you find out. It is a simple linear correlation, but I enjoy approaching life in a similar manner. The more I experience personally, the more I can incorporate in my design work. The more things I try out, the more I will know myself. I fabricate, I code, I twist knobs and sample weird sounds to create music, I experiment with photo- and cinematography. Most of the times it doesn’t work, but that’s okay, failing forward is a great way to learn, and then there are those occasions when it ends up in something spectacular.
I deeply care for the people around me. Their mental & emotional wellbeing is important to me, and it has been since my early age. Due to my past and ongoing experiences, I am one who deeply understands how much it takes to struggle with mental health issues, which is a vast source of motivation for me to help them. I highly prioritize emotional and mental aspects in my work, and I enjoy working on mental health technology interventions.
I love nature! I love its vibrancy, its textures, the controlled chaos in its every possible scale. I am always on the hunt for natural patterns, and I am somewhat obsessed with liquids (hence, the video on my welcome page). Thoughts about the healthy balance between technology and nature are on my mind frequently. Technology is not always the answer, and I believe that we have to spend time away from tech, but where do we draw that line? Nature and technology can exist in a sustainable symbiosis, and I think we need to prioritize it.
I truly believe that ethical design practices are a must, and I am not afraid to speak up to protect those values in everything I do.
I (still) believe that we can contribute to positive change and improve the world through acts of love, creativity, compassion and kindness
To create better embodied experiences, we must know our senses. I highly enjoy sensory explorations, and I consciously develop my sensory skills. I love all forms of culinary, I believe myself to be an audiophile, and I am fascinated with the sense of touch. Such inspiring, and not less informative ways to great design. So I don’t refuse physical pleasure, but in a well-mannered way.
Physical vs. virtual. Perfect vs. flawed.
I seek ways to be more connected to technology. I love to work on physical touchpoints to create more embodied solutions, and I am totally down to introduce analog grit rather than having “surgically sterile” solutions. Imperfection is human trait and a reason why we feel closer to analog technology. I get inspired by old gadgets, and I am a fan of arcade cabinets.
Can we bring fun & liveliness back to technology?
For me creative expression is an escape, a way to show myself, and a way to express things I cannot vocalize.
I am naturally drawn to creative activities, since it provides relaxation for my mind. I especially enjoy electronic music production, photography and cinematography, but I can’t help myself of dabbling in all sorts of creative technology, and I hope to explore more in 2D/3D animations, creative coding, and shaders.
As a treat, here a few songs-in-progress, where I explore musical storytelling.
♫ Suppressed Emotions♫ Electrical Impulses♫ One - Four - ZeroThere is so much in this world to be shared, and not less to be learnt. Experiencing different cultures is an excellent way of learning. You share values, cross-pollinate ideas, and see a new way of seeing. It shapes you as a person. I am honored to say that I am a Fulbright Scholar, because the aim of the program is exactly the same. It is a space for mutual support, and a way of giving back to your community.
It took some time to embrace my weirdness, now I enjoy being weird. I have felt like a misfit many times, but it provides a unique perspective, and once you accept it, you can fully live as you are. We are all different, so show who you are.
